Two art programs based in Venice and New York explore the nexus between climate change, water, death, and survival. Venice is a place of romance and decadence, and a symbol of the threat of rising waters. This global problem was the focus of Beit Venezia's Jewish project Living Under Water, where artists and scholars examined the relevance of the Venetian case. Works On Water (WoW) is an organization based in New York exploring diverse artistic investigations of water in the urban environment. WoW seeks to strengthen and nourish the community of artists working on and with bodies of water.

Starting from these parallel projects, the panelists will address questions such as: How do we care for cities like New York and Venice as rising water levels threaten their existence? How support migrant populations escaping climate disasters? How do we confront a scenario in which we can only palliate a dying city?
