Miguel Flores de la Torre was born on April 16, 1979 in the city of Tula Hidalgo, studied medicine at the Autonomous University of Zacatecas, obtaining the title of Surgeon in 2001, completed a rotary internship for undergraduate and social service at the IMSS, he presented the national medical residency exam in 2003, approving it in 30th place for the specialty of general surgery, he completed the first year of residency at the General Hospital of Oaxaca, and then ends with the remaining 3 years at the General Hospital de Querétaro, completed a 4-month stay in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the Hospital Central Militar, then completed the fellowship lasting one year in advanced laparoscopy surgery at the minimally invasive surgery service at the Hospital Central Militar, Mexico City.

He completed his training in bariatric surgery at the European Center of Excellence for the study and management of Obesity and metabolic diseases, in Valladolid, Spain. He was approved by the Mexican Council of General Surgery from July 2008. His current interest is Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, he participated in the course "Surgical Treatment of Obesity and Diabetes Mellitus" that was carried out at the Hospital of Specialties, La Raza National Medical Center, IMSS. Participated in the Advanced Bariatric Life Support course of the 12th. National Congress of surgery for Obesity and Metabolic Diseases.

It was part of the 2nd World Mini Bypass consensus held in Paris, France. He participated as a moderator in the mini-bypass postgraduate course that took place at the world congress of the International Federation for Obesity Surgery (IFSO) in Montreal, Canada He is co-author of chapter 25 of the book "Minimally Invasive Surgery Perioperative Prophylaxis", editorial Alfil. Pending publication of articles as co-author: prosthetic mesh hiatoplasty in the management of complex hiatal hernia and laparoscopic management of achalasia experience at the Central Military Hospital. He is part of the surgical team of the European Center of Excellence for the study and treatment of Obesity, in Valladolid Spain.

Approved by the European Union as a general practitioner and in approval procedures as a specialist. He has extensive experience in performing a Single Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (“BAGUA”), which he performs as the preferred technique for the treatment of Morbid Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome, with minimal morbidity and results compared to international statistics.
