For those that are keen followers of McQueens Flower School, you will know that creating large-scale, dynamic floral installations is reserved for the final week of the Vocational Course. Which is why in January, the school was delighted to give a group of 10 prospective students the opportunity to join the first-ever One Day Installation Workshop.

The sell-out course attracted a variety of students, from independent florists keen to learn new trends and techniques to advanced hobbyists eager to add to their floristry education. Led by McQueens Flower School Principal, Sophie Powell - the workshop distilled the most innovative installation trends and skills demanded commissioned by discerning clients. Amazing teamwork saw the group create a suspended masterpiece over Dutch Masters-style tablescape. The other-worldly creation tapped into both botanical and painterly trends and was constructed completely free from floral foam.

McQueens Flower School is renowned for not only creating a thorough and practical curriculum but introducing a plethora of creative and innovative concepts - across sustainability as well as design. Sophie explains;

“McQueens Flower has recently been awarded the Positive Luxury Butterfly Mark’ for making a substantial commitment to improving sustainable practice. This has always been an important part of the school’s curriculum, where we share ideas and techniques - particularly when it comes to going free of floral foam. We’re delighted to say that this course, in particular, will continue to be completely floral foam-free.”
