The project contains three objects on our daily table: phone, Amazon Echo and Webcam. Start from the consciousness of machine and dig in by exploring the relationship between the unconscious behaviour of human and machine.
Nowadays, an increasing tendency of people thinks machines are conscious. It's an illusion that refuses to go away. Ordinary people cannot understand the concealed technology inside the machine, and the development of science is so fast that people's cultural evolution cannot keep pace with it. Not only now, but the gap between human beings and the machine has also been existed for a long time, so people created myths like Golem to make ordinary people 'understand' the mechanism. A hypothesis is proposed in this project: what if the machine is doing some unconscious human behaviour? So, I made three machines keep doing three kinds of machinic acts of people which is unconscious. The action of human is also machinic to some degree. This project explores the relationship between human being and machine by the unconscious behaviour of the machine as a reflection from human being's unconscious machinic expression. These objects are aimed at expressing the strained relationship between human beings and machine also the gap between them. But actually, the sophisticated machinery that already at work inside us all. People's lack of self-knowledge leads to their lack of confidence in the current situation of science and technology.
