The Immersive Design Research Lab at Cal State Long Beach is developing a community-driven initiative; a green ring of ocean engagement. Recognizing our position as the largest urban ocean city in the county of Los Angeles, it is our goal to leverage existing assets and partnerships, expand environmentally-friendly access to the waterways of Greater Long Beach, and empower generations of ocean stewards through activities, play, and education. This Long Beach Ocean Engagement Ring is a system of change, mapped to a bike path that connects the people of the diverse neighborhoods that inform the character of our vibrant cities. This project is CSULB's contribution to Pando Days, working to satisfy the county of Los Angeles' sustainability goal 6: "Accessible parks, beaches, recreational waters, public lands, and public spaces that create opportunities for respite, recreation, ecological discovery, and cultural activities".
