“My work is inspired by the Henry Lawson poem Chattie’s Wood published in 1919 about Chatswood. In the poem Lawson mentions the young wife of the then mayor, Charlotte “Chattie” Harnett. Lawson said about Chattie “...and no doubt she chatted too...” a cheeky take on the talkative woman she is implied to be. Chattie’s love of talking lays the underlying theme of my work which looks at how communication has changed over the last 50 years,” says Alice about Digital Odyssey, her artwork for Vivid Sydney at Chatswood.
