Kasra Alikhani creates fictional worlds that alienate the everyday through documentary observations transformed into subjective elevated reflections of social phenomena. In a distinctive three-dimensional layer on layer technique, he has in recent years devoted himself to exploring a kind of expanded idea of scenography and amateur film based on an interest in uniformity, disguise and, by extension, how these expressions relate to our fantasies and pursuit of health and well-being.

In his new performance HEARTBURN I RASTPLATS HJÄRTLANDET, we look at a realistic but playfully pointed event that takes place inside a Swedish roadside restaurant. At the fictional rest area the Heartland, a woman is involuntarily stuck in a limbo, surrounded by encouraging messages about the Swedish nature's health-promoting positive qualities.

Kasra Alikhani was born in 1987 in Iran, grew up in Sweden and based in Gothenburg, graduated from Valand in 2020. kasra.se

Five Corners is a generous display of performance art, where you as a visitor can walk freely and experience several works during the same evening.
To Five Corners, we have invited five artists whose performance practice in an exploratory and personal way reflects different approaches to the art form. What binds them together is a clear courage to move boundaries and a common interest in who you are as an observer. All five works show simultaneously for two hours in the same architectural form, a corner, a room or a stage if you so wish.
