Learning to play the dulcimer is kind of like learning to play a video game. Have you ever watched your kids, or your grandkids, playing a video game on their device? If their character is killed ... do they give up, turn off the device, and go outside to play?
Heavens no! That just inspires them to try again. They figure out what they did wrong and they move on trying to get more points, or a better speed, or move on to the next level.
And it should be the same for you. If you find you're making a lot of mistakes when you're playing the dulcimer, use that as inspiration to work on correcting what it is that's tripping you up - so you can move on to the next level.
