In December 2019, our studio director Jill Williams began exploring program development based on a "Flipped classroom". A "Flipped classroom" is an instructional strategy focused on student engagement and active learning, whereby other teaching modalities are incorporated to shift learning to being student-centred.

In a Flipped "dance" classroom, 'content delivery' takes a variety of forms. Leap Studios began storyboarding content for video lessons in January 2020, and engaged studio faculty as well as industry experts to "reimagine" dance education.

We never would have imagined that we would be using this strategy so quickly. Despite the hastened timeline and complete shift in operations as a result of the rapid spread and necessary containment of COVID-19, we are ready.

Here's a brief peek in to what's coming up for our students starting on Monday, March 30 to help them keep tracking with their dance curriculum: every class, every student, based on their programmed content for the season.
