Eric Olson, Ph.D., is the Director of the Hamon Center for Regenerative Science and Medicine and Professor and Chair of the Department of Molecular Biology at UT Southwestern. Dr. Olson has dedicated his career to understanding how muscles form, function, and malfunction. His most recent work has provided a new strategy for correction of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) using CRISPR gene-editing technology. Southwestern Medical Foundation hosted another installment of its Leading the Conversation on Health discussion series on October 1, 2019, where Dr. Olson spoke about the medical advances this type of technology is making possible and the hope it’s providing for the future of genetic therapy and treatment.
