Hi, I'm Laura. I've just completed the short and intense course with Tom. And it is mad to think the difference from when I went into the course to now, and how I feel about myself as a performer, how I feel in myself generally, because it was kind of like therapy as well as working on process.

The reason I started it is because we've all been in this tricky time as actors in lockdown, work might have been scarce, money has been harder, everything would have been a bit more of a challenge. And so to keep yourself revved up and concentrated, it has been really, really hard to be likse "I still want to do this" because everything just sort of went kaput. So I really needed something to get my energy back, and to get my spark back, because it was gone. And honestly, working with Tom did the trick, like the process that you do with Tom isn't prescriptive, it's not ABC, and then we do this, it's really tailored to the individual.

So Tom has such a calm, but empowering demeanor in the nicest way, without even trying, or making you feel like something's happening. He's really guiding you and supporting you. And I never felt intimidated, it was a place to make mistakes, and that was fun. And let's try this, let's try that. What's good, what's not, and then also getting someone going "you're really good at this" or "this is your strength". When you kind of almost kind of know this things, but you're not as well.

So it's completely tailored to you. And it was just a revelation in some ways. Everything self taping now. And we've been self taping for years. But then I kind of realized that I sort of moment, about halfway through I was like, I think I've been I don't think I've been doing it very well. So to have that little revelation was quite fun. And I was like, I can do this better now. And it's just about getting your focus and getting your drive back. And just cutting away all the fat, especially when those self tapes come in, and you're busy or you're doing something like "Ah, how am I going to fit that in" like that stress kind of went. Because I was like - well, I know what I'm doing now. I know what to do. I know my process. I know what to set up. I know how to sort of do all those things to get ready for it.

But it wasn't just self tapes, we worked on theater pieces. If I had auditions, we would work on those together. And if we didn't, it would be like, right, what do you need work on. So it's really tailored to you. So I'd recommend it 100%. And as it happened, as Tom did say, when you think positively and you know, it does come when you're in the right frame of mind, and you're working on yourself and you're putting that effort into yourself, it does come fruitful because then I got an audition literally just after we finished. And it was for bilingual show, which I probably would have chickened out of, or my agent or I'm not quite ready, but because I've only just started learning the language. And then I sent the self tape, got the part, didn't need to do recall. And I'm convinced it's because of the work Tom and I had done together. It has to be. I was just way more focused and ready to do it and feeling really prepared.

So I would tell anyone 100% spend time with Tom because it's just invaluable. And I've also signed up now to do the six sessions over three months for sort of check ins because, why wouldn't I invest in myself when I saw so much growth from what I had. And so I just think it's a really good way to keep yourself as an actor, going because it is still kind of quiet and we're not back to normal. So I need that for my brain. But thank you, Tom. I absolutely loved it and I would recommend.
