Homage to Frances Glessner Lee's dollhouse recreations of unexplained death scenes, the Nutshell Studies. Her diorama's are still used today for learning to study a scene by the details within the scene. Frances Glessner Lee is a largely unrecognized pioneer of forensic science. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutshell_Studies_of_Unexplained_Death

I built the dollhouse scene in Second Life. When I came across these diorama's I was struck the use of what is typically a girlhood fascination of play to tell a malevolent story. I put myself, my avatar in the scene. It tells the story of a woman, whose husband left to run errands. In the meantime, she irons, peels potatoes, bakes a pie... She may have had a visitor to whom she made a drink for...in the end she is found dead from asphyxiation, the gas on the stove is on. The doors are locked and stuffed with newspapers. Her husband returns, tries to open the door and looks from the outside in to find her lying next to the stove and refrigerator with an ice cube tray laying next to her.
