This card means: ATTAINMENT, LIBERATION

Interpretation: Success, attainment; a good marriage. Achievements in the arts, science and agriculture. Studies completed. Happiness, pleasure in the simple life, good health.

Description: A huge, brilliant sun shines down upon a naked child astride a horse. The walled garden in back of him is the cultivated garden of Man, which he has now left behind him. Four sunflowers are turned toward him for their fuller development, rather than toward the sun. They represent the four elements: Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. The child is fair, like the Fool, and like him also wears a wreath and red feather. His nakedness indicates he no longer has anything to hide.

The child holds the red banner of the conquest of life in his left hand, the subconscious. This is what we all do with a skill well learned. First we are careful and watch each movement, whether in bicycling or playing the piano; later, we can perform automatically. This is what the child is accomplishing with the forces of nature.

The Number Nineteen is considered in mythology and legends as the number of the Sun. One who has attained the age of nineteen becomes a Sun initiate, ready to achieve on the inner plane what the Sun accomplishes in giving life and warmth to the earth.
