Hello, my name is Jessica Sanders. This is my Sign name. I started learning ASL in Kansas City MO at the community college there. They had ASL one and two and I took that my first year of college. I fell in love with the language and culture and wanted to learn more, so I transferred to St. Louis community college and they had an ITP interpreting training program there. SO I took that for two years graduated in the summer of 2019. Then I transferred to William woods university. To finish my bachelor's in science English and interpreting ASL American Sign Language. Why did I choose interpreting? I first fell in love with the language and culture but I've always felt that communication has always been super important in our world and that ween need more proper communication so we can connect with other people better. that is why I chose to go into the field of interpreting. My professional goals with interpreting are to become a video relay services interpreter. During my program in St. Louis I got the opportunity to observe a call center and observe for a few days. I was just so fascinated by the variety of different phone calls they got I just really enjoyed that and decided that's what I was going to do. Right not my certification level is none I don't have a certification right now. I need to set up a day to take the TEP Test of English proficiency. Hopefully, I'll pass that and continues on to take the BEI ad to become a certified interpreter. other interests of mine include things like music specifically Christian or worship music. My faith is very important to me. I also enjoy traveling to different state parks. I'm also getting married next year so its a super exciting time in my life.
