Lady Elliott Island is the Southern most point of Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef.
Scientists and researchers visiting the island are considering a range of ecological processes that are teaching humans about marine ecology and the relationship we have with the natural world.

As we enter a ‘climate of change’, this island is serving as an ‘arc’, which displaced creatures will likely migrate toward, as global warming impacts affect viability of habitat in northern waters.

Our conversation touched on #CaringForCountry, #ProjectManta and also the #LeafToReef Project, which are using citizen science photographic contributions to map a range of species on land and in the waters around the island.

This will hopefully reveal patterns and changes that may guide future research by scientists and policy making by decision makers as we co-design our future together.
