The Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge is researching ways that Aotearoa can create a ‘blue economy’ (a sustainable marine economy). AgriSea is an example of an innovative enterprise that is creating economic value from sustainable marine activities, based on healthy marine ecosystems.

AgriSea uses seaweed to manufacture macro-algae concentrates and bioactive extractions to add high value nutrition for soil, plant, animal and human health.

AgriSea partners with whānau and hapū across the country.They have ongoing conversations with iwi about seaweed’s environmental value to coastal ecosystems and its economic value as a sustainable industry for Aotearoa.
