Julie Matthews, the head teacher at the Bunscoill Ghlaelgagh, explains how children enter with little or no Manx, but learn from day one completely immersed in the language.
The process is long and complex, but utterly seamless and natural for the children, such that they emerge aged 11 fluent Manx speakers who frequently are achieving higher than their colleagues in other schools in subjects such as maths and science.
