GP M.A.D.E. Foundation Awards Scholarships

On Thursday, April 2, 2020, The GP M.A.D.E. Foundation awarded 25 academic scholarships to Missouri high school students who will attend college and vocational schools in the state of Missouri.

Former Mizzou Athletic Director Mike Alden initiated and launched the GP M.A.D.E. Foundation scholarship program. He helped bring together community leaders around Missouri to make it happen.

Approaching one year since its launch, The GP M.A.D.E. Foundation looks forward to allocating money raised to assist youth in continuing their education after high school. The 25 scholarships will go to students in St. Louis, Kansas City, and mid-Missouri with a committed donor amount of $156,000.

“We couldn’t get this done without the support from donors and business partners for contributing to our vision and objectives,” said Gary Pinkel, President of the GP M.A.D.E. Foundation. “Also, a special thank you to the foundation’s scholarship committee for spending months on the selection process.”

The foundation’s scholarship committee includes Board Members Mark Fenner, L’Damian Washington, and John Qualy, and Executive Director Peggy Kirkpatrick.

Pinkel and Fenner hosted the surprise announcement with the students over video conferencing.

“As evidenced by their applications and academic performance, you know these kids are very deserving, and this will help them financially to chase their dreams," said Fenner.

Gary and Missy Pinkel launched The GP M.A.D.E. Foundation on April 24, 2019. The foundation’s mission is centered on “Making A Difference Every-day” in the life and future of children and youth facing difficult challenges. Its three support objectives are to:

• Support and research for children and youth facing lymphoma and leukemia cancers
• Assisting children and youth with physical challenges
• Aiding children and youth experiencing economic and social challenges, through mentoring, scholarship, etc.

In the past year, the GP M.A.D.E. Foundation contributed to over six statewide charities through grants, special needs and program donations in addition to the scholarship monetary gifts. The scholarships add to the foundation’s mission of providing support to youth experiencing socioeconomic challenges.
