“We should commend [Blackrock] it’s a level of corporate bravery. But I’ll also say something perhaps controversial: It’s a half measure. Every asset manager that invests like Blackrock is also invested in oil and gas infrastructure, is also invested in dirty extractive industries. You can’t invest in those things and then have two percent of your portfolio be ESG — it doesn’t work. And we’re out of time to do these half-measures. We should applaud it but we should also think about how we incentive corporate executives and governments to do more… The other piece too when we talk about governments is that we need to start supporting candidates that believe in science that actually use facts… This is a really important year for what happens in terms of policies that will permit us or restrict us in fighting the climate crisis." #TradeshiftatDavos
