Dear New and Returning FSDB Families,

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding our initial 2020-21 Reopening Plan. The first sentence in our plan states, “The FSDB 2020-21 Reopening Plan will continue to change throughout the coming weeks as additional guidance is gleaned from various entities…” and that is bearing out to be very true.

After careful consideration, additional guidance and research into a variety of options, we’ve made the decision to provide an innovative learning environment (ILE) for families who do not yet feel comfortable to have their child(ren) participate in learning on campus as well as in-person (brick and mortar) instruction five-days a week. During the first quarter of the 2020-21 school year, these two synchronous models will continue to provide specialized instruction for all students (ELC –12th grade) including robust progress monitoring and tiered support.

Our administrative team also has made the decision to revise the start of the 2020-21 school year until Monday, Aug. 31, 2020, allowing our school to continue making the necessary preparations to protect the health and safety of staff and students. Details about the numerous health and safety protocols we are putting in place as well as information about the new ILE option are detailed in the revised FSDB Reopening Plan 2020-21. If you haven’t done so already, please complete your 2020-21 Annual Information Update and sign-off on the forms online via Skyward Family Access. We also mailed packets home with a postage-paid return envelope so that you can complete and return forms with your and your child’s physician’s signatures by or before the deadline of Monday, Aug. 3, 2020. All required forms must be completed promptly so we can prepare for Family Open House on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, and the start of school the next day. We also ask that you complete a brief survey, indicating which option you’re choosing for your child for the start of the 2020-21 school year. Thank you to those who have already completed these tasks.
