Each year in July, Kettering invites people from across the United States and around the world to participate in learning exchanges that address specific problems of democracy as part of our Deliberative Democracy Exchange (DDEx). Kettering’s 2021 DDEx brought together nearly 350 participants from across the United States and 48 other countries. On Tuesday, July 13, we gathered for an online plenary that included participants from all of the DDEx exchanges, as well as others in the network. During this discussion, former Kettering international fellow Ferenc Hammer reflected on his more than 30-year association with Kettering and the sense of continuity that this work has provided over time.
