In 2018, Hurricane Michael, a category 5 Atlantic hurricane, struck Florida’s Northwestern Panhandle region. To support disaster-relief eff orts, SES partnered with Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC) to enable the transfer of high-res images for damage assessment. For this operation we deployed transportable 1.2m Avl terminals and enabled 300Mbps of low latency fiber-like connectivity over the O3b MEO satellite service. Our crisis recovery solution allowed quick restoration of the networking capabilities and assistance in the recovery eff orts of the community.
