The Electoral Commission warns that 1 in 4 black and Asian voters in the UK are not registered to vote. There are systems in our society which block us from political engagement, stemming from Education to Culture and Economics. Whitelines is a 360º Artist film of poetic portraiture highlighting the lack of political representation in our democracy and indicative of our closed society.
This film features Political Activists, Lawyers, Trade Unionists and Politicians, filmed during a series of political events in Enfield, UK between 2018-2020 and during a time when all the black councillors were de-selected as councillors in the 2017/2018 councillor selections. Black people make up more than a fifth of Enfield borough's population at 20.6% yet there are only 3 black councillors out of 63.
