Urologic disorders are the conditions which affect the urinary system. A range of drugs are used for treating these ailments. Erectile dysfunction (ED) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) are common urologic disorders in males. Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors alongside alprostadil and Alpha 1-adrenergic antagonists are highlighted. 5-α reductase inhibitors include finasteride and dutasteride.

PHOSPHODIESTERASE-5 INHIBITORS
Urologic drugs include drugs for erectiel dysfunction, alpha blockers and 5 alpha-reductase inhibitors. Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors are equally effective in treating ED. These drugs include avanafil, sildenafil and tadalafil. The pharmacokinetics of each and contraindications are separately discussed.

ALPROSTADIL AND TADALAFIL
Alprostadil is a prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) which relaxes the muscles in corpus cavernosum. This drug acts on the PGE1 receptors present on the smooth muscle cells. On the other hand, tadalafil is the drug which is approved for the treatment of BPH and causes vasodilation of smooth muscles. It blocks cGMP-PDE5. Also, drug interactions are described.
ALPHA-1-ADRENERGIC ANTAGONISTS
Drugs used for benign prostatic hyperplasia include A1-adrenergic antagonists, 5-alpha reductase and PDE-5 inhibitors. The former are terazosin, doxazosin and silodosin. Prazosin is used off-label in the treatment of BPH. Their respective pharmacokinetics alongside drug interactions are delineated.

5-ALPHA REDUCTASE INHIBITORS
5-alpha reductase inhibitors encompass finasteride and dutasteride. These drugs are metabolized by the CYP450 system and are highly protein bound. Afterwards, this section has been summed up by a mention of combination therapy with 5-alpha reductase inhibitors and alpha-adrenergic antagonists.
