"Hello everyone and welcome from the Stamford campus. I have some news to share with you this week; actually three pieces of news to share with you. The first one is that we awarded our food contract this week. We went through a rigorous process to vet interested vendors who want to come to Stamford, and also the Australian International School and Brighton College - they're all Cognita schools. So we had a joint process to select a new food vendor and we had about 10 vendors that were interested that submitted their materials. We carefully reviewed them with a technical committee and narrowed it down to three finalists. Those finalists came onto campus; we did a food tasting with parents, and staff and students, and scored them on the food. Then they did a business presentation and really showed us how they plan to organize their work to be able to accommodate all of our students with high quality food. So I'm pleased to announce that the vendor that prevailed is Sodexo. They are a well-known company that serves a lot of schools in Singapore, they received positive feedback on the quality of their food and their business plan was solid. One of the things they really emphasized in their presentation was how much they value feedback and processes to get feedback from students and families about the quality of food, which was an impressive highlight. We also did survey families as part of this process and received some really good feedback about quality of food and also variety, so we're going to build that feedback into the new plan that we have with Sodexo. They'll be launching service in January so that’s something to look forward there.

Next, we had another competition where we have astronauts from NASA coming to Singapore next month for something called Mission Discovery. This is a science competition where students come together; they learn about NASA, science and space exploration, and they design an experiment. The winning experiment is then taken to space to the International Space Station where astronauts conduct the experiment, which is an amazing opportunity. And so w e had a competition at Stamford where interested students wrote an essay - we enjoyed reading those essays about artificial intelligence, climate change, and the power of scientific inquiry – and we rated them. We have 10 winners from the essay competition. We're going to provide a scholarship for them to go next month and join NASA astronauts, engineers and scientists at Mission Discovery. We're incredibly excited and it's going to be a really fun opportunity for those students.

Finally, this week was Deepavali. I've got to tell you, standing at the gate this week and watching students arrive with their beautiful saris and outfits was really rewarding for me. I just loved seeing them dress up in their bright colors. We had celebrations at school including the making of rangoli, art classes and telling stories, so it was just a great celebration for the festival of light. So happy Deepavali to all of you.
