Do universities have their own rules for sexual assault cases?

Yes and no. Colleges and universities in the United States are bound by federal Title IX law. Title IX is a federal civil rights law that's intended, in part, to prevent and address campus sexual misconduct. That's the overarching law, so to speak, in terms of what a college or university is going to be bound by. They have to be in compliance. If they're going to receive federal funding from the Department of Education, they have to remain in compliance with Title IX. So there's those overarching rules that would have to be complied with, would have to be met by the school. A school can also, say, have certain interpretations or their own policies in terms of how a Title IX case would be specifically addressed. So different schools vary in terms of their approach. All, say, being with the overarching theme of federal Title IX law in mind.
