Warnings…

“If your watch is slow by just four minutes, that's not much - unless you've been warned that if you're even one minute late ever again you will be fired. Then four minutes make a big difference.” Zig Ziglar

And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way…(Matthew 2:12)

Sometimes warnings are incredibly ostentatious, too big to miss, so obvious even the fool sees them. Some warnings prevent even the densest of fools from traveling farther down the road of misfortune and chaos. Unfortunately, most warnings are far more subtle, mere phantoms of the moment, quickly passing across the conscious mind before flittering into the land of forgetfulness. And, perhaps, the most subtle of all warnings dance in the subconscious, speaking only for a moment before disappearing into the land of dreams.

Dreams, like it or not, are often the screen upon which the communications of God appear, crystal clear in the moment, but soon lost as the conscious mind awakens to engage. The wise men, master dreamers, attentive to the subtleties of dreamland, take seriously the warnings of the subconscious mind, hesitating not to embrace the truths of the sleepy moment. There is no time for debating the flickering warnings of dreamland, the whisperings of the Holy Spirit. This is the moment to engage, to depart, to obey the subtle warnings of dreamland.

Moderns, too devoted to the god of science to ever give heed to ‘dreams’, quickly dismiss the warnings of dreamland, mandating instead warnings of another kind, warnings easily measured and repeated. Only the ever-present street signs can catch the imagination of moderns who return over and over to the sign, comforted by its stagnant presence.

But God is often a God of the subtle, the illusive, the momentary clarity, gone as quickly as it came. Too often the whisperings of God will appear in the mist, only to fade as the mist disperses into the heat of the day. But wise are those who learn to implement the warnings of the fading moment. Seize it while you can, and never hesitate to engage quickly as you love on...
