Process Notes:

I composed a poem, recorded it and sent it to my friend Olli – we’re in an ongoing collaboration – creating songs / music. I also try and take the opportunity to make films / poetry films from these collaborations.

Olli treated this particular recorded poem as the basis for a rap piece. It feels appropriate and quite Dadaesque. Thus – a DADA RAP.

The poem:

Let’s do it
A new way
Let’s see it
A new way

A red box
Dates all my secretions
The crime is to rhyme
Isn’t it
The pound
Stand
Demand
With relinquishment
Syllables and half burning clues
But also
Keys
Truth must remain
Part and parcel
Of the lie
And vice versa
A train wreck waiting to happen
Even a red wheelbarrow
Bereft of purpose
Yes it all may well be messy
A baby learning how to consume
With a sense of tidiness
Even then there is something
Making mystery
An election here and
This and that confection
To become a norm
