‘Control Freak’ writing robot embodies a new era of digital calligraph-ic art that transcends the traditional Chinese concept of the ‘four treas-ures of the study. Researcher presents the new concept of ‘eight treas-ures of the study’, which includes the traditional items such as rice paper and black ink, and products of the new era: a specially made magnetic writing brush, a 3D wooden pendulum rod, computer soft-ware programs, a mechanical milling device, mobile writing table and hanging rack, and continuous computer imaging technology. Addition-ally, this research project aims to propose, seek, and realize the possibilities for calligraphic writing and creation that exist between human and non-human aspects.
