The Community Gardens Partnership Program provides many environmental benefits and improve the quality of life for residents in Richardson. Gardens reduce city heat from streets and parking lots, preserve green space, beautify neighborhoods, conserve resources, while producing nutritious food, helping reduce family food budgets, providing opportunities for intergenerational and cross-cultural connects, and providing a chance for recreation, exercise, therapy and education. Organizations interested in partnering with the City to create a community garden are given a 95% water subsidy to help support gardening initiatives.
