December 21st

Early morning of the first day of summer, and we were on our way to Cerro Colorado, a natural reserve located in the north of Córdoba province.
It was such a hectic morning so we could listen and recognize several species.Besides admiring the beautiful landscape, we were able to see American black vultures and turkey vultures flying at the foot of the Cerro. The photographer used his drone and Go Pro camera to take fantastic shots of the valley and rivers.

We had lunch at a camp set up near the river. Lunches, especially the traditional asado, in this kind of tours are one of the best moments to relax, talk about the number of bird species detected, and compare checklists.
After an incredible lunch, we went around the Cerro up to the river, where we witnessed a hornero build his mud nest.
We also visited Casa Pozo, which is a replica of a house of the Comechingones, a group of Natives who lived in the provinces of Córdoba and San Luis. Tourists can visit this space to have a general idea of how they used to live.
At Cerro Colorado, you can also stop by Atahualpa Yupanqui Museum, which used to be the house of who is considered the most important Argentine folk musician of the 20th century. Both Casa Pozo and the museum are two very important historical places for this region.
After a great day, happy with the experience and willing to keep on learning, we went back to Jesús María during the afternoon.
