“An I, Learning you, Learning I”

Artificial Intelligence deep learning technologies are enabling machines to comprehend and recreate the human experience. This work is a part of the transformation of these tools; from control and surveillance, into another dimension of expression. “An I learning You, learning I” is not only an experiment in reimagining how these methods are used; beyond that, it is a collaboration.
This work centres on questions of body representation and understanding (specifically a moving, female identifying body), artistic creation and ownership, and power dynamics/structures. This is a meeting point, from which to embark.

LAF - Leerstand als Freiraum, Pforzheim, Germany

"Von Januar bis Februar 2021 entwickelte die Künstlerin im LAF-Projektraum eine Tanzperformance mit einer General Adversarial Network (STYLEGAN 2). Sie untersuchte maschinelle Wahrnehmung in Bezug zum bewegten Körper. Zuerst erstellte sie einen Datensatz von über 900 Bildern, die ihren Körper in Bewegung festhielten. Mithilfe dieser Daten wurde der intelligente Bildgenerator STYLEGAN2 antrainiert und generierte so Interpretationen ihrerselbst. Ausgehend davon entstanden weitere Auseinandersetzungen und Kollaborationen in diversen Medien. Gemeinsam mit dem LAF wurde das Konzept räumlich inszeniert und übersetzt. Zum Auftakt der Ausstellung wird Girard die aus ihrem Research hervorgegangene Choreografie präsentieren."
