AFRO-GALA CIPHER - Moving Forward:
Supporting The Value of Hip Hop, the Arts and Education

His name is Wasswa Peter Sean, Founder and President at Kulture For Kids (established in 2015). GROW TO BUILD Uganda was established 2016.

Sean's mission: To nourish and provide guidance to our youth and community by helping them develop the knowledge, skills and confidence though the positive power of hip hop culture, the arts, and education. To open their minds to their creativity as well as help them develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed in school, the workplace and in every day life.

Sean believes the discipline he instills empowers and inspires young people. He knows, Kulture Future Kids and learning hip hop culture will transform lives - because it transformed his. He knows first hand how hip hop helps children develop discipline and confidence, is a platform to express themselves, and shows them how to be positive role models in their communities.

Concentrating mostly on youth centered projects that work directly with young people of different communities, backgrounds and schools in Uganda, Sean helps them develop both mentally and physically through hip hop elements, traditional African drumming and other creative art forms. His events, such as “HIP-HOP & HOPE” and “BACK-TO-SCHOOL Supplies & Haircuts” have drawn hundreds of youths from the slums of Kampala. Hip hop in Uganda has been opening doors for young people and helping to raise aspirations. With his gift for teaching he believes he can redirect their energy and intensify empowerment programs for young people. It is events like GROW TO BUILD Uganda / Kulture Future Kids AFRO-GALA CIPHER - Moving Forward 2021, that will do just that!

On Sunday, April 4th, 2021 the AFRO-GALA CIPHER - Moving Forward event will take place from 7:30 am - 5:00 pm at Kawempe’s 22G Mbogo Zone, under the artistic direction of Wasswa Peter Sean, organized by the team of GROW TO BUILD Uganda / Kulture Future Kids.

AFRO-GALA CIPHER was created two years ago to raise awareness of the importance of early school education, using the transmission of artistic languages as personal growth to build a better future.

This will be an exciting, fun and beautiful gathering of family and friends of GROW TO BUILD Uganda / Kulture Future Kids. AFRO-GALA CIPHER offers the children a way to share their experiences, to express themselves with rhythm of their dance or drum, and to exhibit what they have learned. Spectators will see the children, teachers and parents of Mbogo Grammer Primary School and community members who have been participating in GTBU’s “Ennimi mu Bbivuga” program (Languages In Instruments) along with GTBU Master Teacher, Twino Ivan.

This is a free event. It will be a powerful and great day for the entire community! Proper health and safety precautions are essential.

AFRO-GALA CIPHER - Moving Forward is linked to “HIP-HOP & HOPE” 3rd edition - Uplifting Arts Within Hip Hop Culture in Uganda, scheduled for May 2021. These events support the GROW TO BUILD, Uganda / Kulture Future Kids organization. By supporting the value of arts education and offering learning opportunities through artistic workshops related to hip hop culture, Wasswa Peter Sean, long time supporter and public school hip hop dance teacher Jamee Schleifer (Brooklyn, NYC), and others aim to improve the lives of new generations.
To help fund his work for KFK, Sean is currently involved with other hip hop community artists worldwide. Moneys raised by GTBU’s GoFundMe are used to fund ongoing events and projects, hip hop workshops in art, music and dance, and to pay for children's school fees, art materials and equipment.
