My favorite of all is ‘Afreen, Afreen’. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan carrying on the tradition of his family of qawaal singing for more than 650 years. It is literally in his DNA, this spiritual connection with music, tradition and disciplined vocal and musical education that is so beautifully highlighted in this song. I sang a cover of this song, as many have done, as a devotion to this beautiful tradition.
