On November 3, 2021, the American Federation for Aging Research hosted our 40th Anniversary Scientific Symposium and Award Ceremony, "SCIENCE IS VITAL:
Targeting Age-Related Disease through Biomedical Breakthroughs"

The event honored Mikael Dolsten, MD, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer and President of
Worldwide Research, Development, and Medical at Pfizer, for his visionary impact advancing Pfizer’s scientific breakthrough leadership in small-molecule medicines, biotherapeutics, gene therapies, and vaccines.

The program concluded with a conversation between Dr. Dolsten and National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Francis S. Collins, MD, PhD, on the path to the discovery of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, and was moderated by AFAR Senior Scientific Director Steven Austad, PhD.
