While it may be challenging for many special needs students to meet Common Core standards, there are skills identified as connectors to the Common Core standards that can help remove barriers to learning and promote independence. This webinar will look at ways to foster responsibility between special educators and general educators so that students with disabilities have the access skills necessary to meet the Common Core standards. Join Dr. Vicki Caruana as she examines the standards in light of the needs of students with disabilities and suggests access skills to use when designing lessons that address a range of learners. She will discuss using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and how to discern whether the standard is flexible enough so that all students can meet the goal. In addition, she will cover how to provide multiple means by which students can learn the standards.
