The 9-1-1 installation art that I created while working on my Internship course in 2019, is a visual representation of a very deep, but yet, huge part of what was inside my mind back then. This was where all the illusions or even my deepest fears came to life. I wanted to create a place, where the viewer will enter and he/she will have to get face to face with all these illusions and get the chance to explore them visually. This project was designed to be experienced by only one person at a time, as this allowed the visitor to create their own unique experience. Outside the room, you had to wear a hospital-patient uniform, and
the reason behind that, was to create the idea of entering something so sick that you as a viewer will want to heal. The darkness inside this room had also it’s own meaning. It was like entering something very deep inside you that you may not even want to face. Also you had to enter the room through a plastic-material door that was leading you to a dark path, that you had to follow. Before entering the room, you were also given a flashlight so you could observe the huge painting that has been installed in the room. The painting showcased personal fears and illusions that sometimes they were not even real, but they were still very powerful. Some parts of the painting presented things such as being afraid of being loved, personal insecurities, being pushed to do something you don’t want to etc. It also presents social related subjects such as same-sex relationship, social anxiety, or even internet addiction.

This installation art was a part of the Art and Technology Exhibition called “ill.usions+”, that took place at MAD Research Lab hosted by Cyprus University of Technology, on the 6th of December 2019.
