In 4 am on 25th June 1960, South Korea was invaded by North Korea. In the northern part of South Korea, there were 7 times more troops from North Korea. It was impossible for the South Koreans to defend because they were not ready for a surprise attack. The United nations regulated it as an invasion from North Korea and asked them to retreat until the 38th parallel. However, they ignored it and with General MacArthur as the United Nations commander, troops from different countries came to help South Korea. About 60 countries volunteered to help with troops, medication and resources. The United States also helped out with their troops separately from the United Nations Army. Miserably, more than 8.3 million people were killed, injured and lost. About 3.6 million people were civilians from North and South Korea. Operation Chromite had turned the war situation upside down and things started to get better. By the end of 1950 March, the war was finally over. Thanks to many different countries and their help, South Korea recovered quickly. With Seoul as its capital city, it has become one of the best places to visit. Economy was recovered as well and now it is one of the leading countries with technology.
