Workshop Description:

With the advent of digital manufacturing methods, a new paradigm of computational modeling has emerged focused on the programming of complex systems. This is a topical course that mixed analysis of design objects, novel interactions, prototyping for creative enterprise and business, along with Augmented Reality (AR) as a tool for engaging with larger design and architectural practice. The idea is to engage in the business of technology within the greatly expanding techniques of three-dimensional computer modeling.

Each student had 5 - 7 days to complete the design development and prototyping for the workshop.

A series of projects concluded with preparing an in-depth proposal for a public design competition through 3D modeling, Augmented Reality (AR), parametric design, and rendering. Students learned to incorporate UI/UX design via Adobe XD, and use of Project Aero or other Augmented Reality (AR) integration to enhance the dialogue of creative entrepreneurship and strategic solutions. Students were encouraged to engage with additional technologies to develop and expand how the field of architecture and design uses AR to engage in creative entrepreneurial practices.

We explored the wide array of new developments in these fields creating tactile models, drawings and renderings that explore digital to real world connections and material possibilities as they relate to specific business strategies and communities. Students picked a simple strategic approach to broaden an industry that they are interested in, such as museum sector, retail, and/or urban futures.

The class was structured around a series of projects as we build both generative & parametric tools as a means to produce three dimensional outcomes that span the definition art and design for the current creative and strategic built environment.

Projects explored the topics of Future of Work, Future of Construction, Future of Retail, Future of Tourism, and the Future of Urban Living.

Learning Outcomes Focused on digital design, distance learning, Augmented Reality (AR), and online 3D modelling, students will be working directly with the instructor to work towards an online depository of workshops and online instructional videos that will allow students to celebrate both digital and online-learning of technique, methodology, and open-sourced learning and participation onto the world of 3D modelling and digital fabrication, and creative enterprise.
