17000 ft Foundation is a Not for profit setup working to improve lives of people settled in very remote frontier villages of Ladakh. With bare minimum infrastructure, the people of these villages suffer from isolation and neglect, unwilling but driven to migrate to faraway cities in search of a better life.Our mission is to draw attention to these ancient communities, create opportunities for development and help them live transformed lives within their chosen regions.Our main focus is on improving the education system in the remote government schools of high altitude Ladakh. The foundation gets its name from the fact that the team had to cross 3 mountain passes on foot, the highest being 17000ft, endure -20 degree temperatures, to reach their first beneficiary, one of the remotest schools of Ladakh which remains cut off from civilization for 6 months of a year due to harsh winters. Along the way they had to guide 25 horses carrying 1500 kg of school furniture.
