Many individuals find themselves in the position of wanting to be an ally for the underrepresented, but not necessarily aware of the most effective ways to do so. This program will examine the following questions, among others, surrounding allyship in the workplace:

How do we define the term “ally?”
What are particularly effective ways for allies to be helpful?
How does one go about becoming an ally?
What are common mistakes that potential allies make, or misunderstandings that potential allies have?
Ultimately, this program will illustrate the many ways in which any one individual can make a positive impact in a workplace as well as in society as a whole. With a focus on self-reflection, the program will help attendees who are interested in being an ally educate themselves on the lived experience of others. Attendees will also receive a list of other resources for additional learning and improvement.
