“Ye yoo Qitand-yoom”

This ancient Qitanian chant has been sung for thousands of years on countless occasions. Whenever a group of Qitanians gathers at their capital base, the public places of their villages, their houses, with friends, or even the most distant outpost on the outer rim of the galaxy - at some point there's always someone starting a “Nahan-wath” (“A long night”) by giving out some of the ancient Qitanian instruments and encouraging the others to play and sing along. Depending on how much GekNip and Qitanian Whiskey are consumed, these chant sessions can take up to four or five hours, while actually only one or two songs are played during that time.

The lyrics of the Qitanian chants usually consist of no more than two or three short sentences and a simple melody that are continuously repeated until the performing crowd enters a state of trance for several hours.

The chant presented here is probably one of the oldest known, and describes how Qitanians like to travel and explore on one hand, but on the other also feel the need to have a home somewhere.
