I spent a sunny winter morning at Kokanee Creek. Among other things, I spent time watching the American Dippers sing and feed. Dippers are the only truly aquatic songbirds. Not only do the trill and warble in winter, they can sing above the sounds of rushing water. Flying underwater, building moss nests under bridges and waterfalls and singing in winter - dippers do it all! Their eyelids are covered in white feathers. Watch them dip and flash their white eyelids. Amazing birds!!! And they live right here at Kokanee Creek Provincial Park (filmed on Feb. 8).
