Awards season is well underway but disappointingly more and more stars seem to be showing up in Dolce & Gabbana.
Not sure why this is a problem? Let us fill you in on D&G’s not so secret, racist, homophobic and sexist past.
Let’s start with the homophobia.
Back in 2015 Gabbana stated that he was “opposed to the idea of a child growing up with two gay parents.” saying that “a child needs a mother and a father”.
Gabbana also went on to say that he opposes gay adoptions and branded children born through artificial insemination as “synthetic”.
Oh, and let’s not forget, D&G is one of the only brands to publicly support and dress Melania Trump, despite her husband’s consistent attacks on minorities.
Moving on from homophobia, let’s take a quick dive into D&G’s racist past.
In mid-November 2018, the brand released 3 short videos to promote their show in Shanghai.
The videos feature an Asian model attempting to eat pizza and pasta with chopsticks.
Rather than promoting the show, all the videos appears to do is mock Chinese speech and culture, as well as reinforce racist stereotypes.
In an alleged Instagram conversation about the videos, Gabbana also appeared to make racist comments about Chinese citizens.
We don’t even want to repeat what he said so just check out the visuals.
And let’s not forget the cyberbullying of Selena Gomez.
We could discuss everything that the brand has said or done, but we’d truly be here for days.
After the crash and burn of the brand in China, there was a mass boycott.
But sadly more and more stars are leaving the house wearing D&G.
Evan Ross Katz explained that: “Lucio di Rosa, D&G’s new Worldwide Celebrities Relations, is the person responsible for the brand’s resurgence on the carpet”
This has prompted rumours that the brand is now paying stylists to dress celebs in their clothes.
Which would explain why the likes of Gwen Stefani and Quavo turned up at the Grammy’s wearing the designers.
Or why Kim Kardashian continuously post D&G on her IG story.
Do you think Dolce & Gabbana are paying stylists, or have people just forgotten about their actions?
