How did these village children in Papua get Canadian flag stickers all over their face?

After 3 flights from Singapore via Manado in North Sulawesi and Sorong, I arrived in Papua and boarded my floating home for the next 9 days. This magnificent three masted schooner was awarded the liveaboard of the year in 2018 by Dive Magazine. She is 191 feet in length with a beam of 37 feet and 8 spacious staterooms.

We had done 3 dives at the village’s Bagan which is a floating platform used to catch fish and attracts whalesharks.

These amazing creatures are the largest fish in the sea. At one time there were 4 feeding at the Bagan. They would swim right towards me as I snorkeled, and I was able to get some great footage.

In between our dives, the village children would paddle out in their canoes to visit, so that evening we visited them.

We were greeted with smiling faces and I was surrounded by them as I handed out Canadian stickers.

We got a tour of their village and then were treated to songs in their schoolhouse.
