The three sections of haiku contain poems limited to three lines in length. Each line has two stressed syllables.
The music consists of three interludes, Reach, Spiral, and Spin. Reach meanderingly outlines a musical landscape and introduces a yearning theme. Spiral arches through atonal space. Spin is a traditional prelude that reprises the theme and anchors a lyrical melody over stretches of repetitive stasis.
