One Friday morning I was lost in the old palace, which was damaged in the middle, just like the destiny of the neighborhood and its memories which will never come back,

I’ll never forget this piano and its lost damaged keys, they will always echo in my mind. in another visit to the place, sadly the piano had already lost more pieces, that day, it seemed he was waiting for my help to say his word, that performance was its last heartbeat.

Part 2 :
My grandmother Jenny Poche Marrache, was the last to reside in this beautiful home. An ancient and rich home that served as one of the first consulates in the world. I remember returning to this home for the first time in 2016 and the first thing I saw through the broken window was this beautiful piano. It had fallen through two floors that collapsed. I was shocked and overwhelmed with profound sadness, made worse by the fact that it was the only piece that remained in the house as it was too heavy to steal.

Yet, I look at this picture, of the last lady of the souks playing the piano and I smile. In the end, she was not the last to play the piano, I smile again, because the house, and the old city of Aleppo, have once again heard music.
