Music video for 'The Beautiful Sound of Rain' from our 2014 release, "Twee". It features our friends, Shannon Heaton on flute, Matt Heaton on guitars, and Jason Titus on keyboards.
We didn't make a video for the song when we first recored/released it, so this is a recent project, as I decided to remix the song a bit. The video uses scenes from Joseph Cornell's short film, "A Legend for Fountains" (1957) as its source. Cornell's short film, while not in any way connected to the narrative of the song, just seems to go well with it nonetheless.
It’s actually one of my favorite songs that we’ve written/recorded. It’s one of the rare moments that the sounds in my head were actually realized. No doubt due to the quality of musicianship on the recording by our talented guests. Also, this may be my favorite of Helena’s vocals, all four-part harmony sweetness in the chorus. This is actually a new, 2020 mix of the song (better dynamics), so the time seemed right to create a video.
While I was remixing it and editing the video, our toddler, Mal, kept me company and just kept saying ‘mama’ and smiling every time Helena’s voice came on. It’s really sweet that he can recognize his mother singing.
