Suede House is music from Kite Symphony, Four Variations. The video accompaniment was created by Kristi Sword and Roberto Carlos Lange (Helado Negro) during their time in Marfa, TX creating 'Kite Symphony,' a new, non-linear, and impressionistic film, live score, and body of sculptural work that explores the landscape of Chihuahuan Desert through wind, sound, and light commissioned by Ballroom Marfa.

Kite Symphony, Four Variations is a collection of music created by Roberto Carlos Lange in collaboration with Kristi Sword. Featuring electro-acoustic composer Rob Mazurek, and violist Jeanann Dara.

The music was created as a direct response to graphic scores by Kristi Sword. Guided by Sword’s dynamic and rhythmic graphic notations–visual representations of music through symbols outside the world of traditional music notation–these four music compositions freely explore the lightness of ephemeral moments in the elements, encouraging the listener to meditate on their immediate surroundings.

Video created by Kristi Sword and Roberto Carlos Lange in March 2020. Marfa, TX.

Design by Crystal Zapata
Mastered by Rachel Alina
This project was organized by Ballroom Marfa programs director Sarah Melendez
