Stirbitch: An Imaginary is a 68-minute film-poem within the tradition of the English Eerie. Poised between psychogeography and dream, it ruminates on the relationships between land, cultural memory and the carnivalesque through the vanished site of Stourbridge Fair: a seven-century Saturnalia and the greatest fair of all.
The film is written, directed, photographed and produced by Michael Hrebeniak, and edited by Michael Weir with visual design by Marc Atkins. Voiced by Robin Kirkpatrick, it features original music by the Memory Band and Jeremy Thurlow, alongside archival recordings of Pablo Casals performing Bach and field recordings of East Anglian folk songs.
